The Department of Psychology has a new external examiner, Professor Tuntufye Mwamwenda appointment in October 2013.

Prof. Tuntufye Selemani Mwamwenda,

50 Holzner Road, Marianhill Park, Pinetown 3610, South Africa.

Professor Tuntufye Mwamwenda was born in Tanzania and completed his schooling in Uganda.  He holds a BA in Education from Spicer Memorial College (India), an MSc in Education from the State University of New York, an MA in Educational Psychology from the University of Ottawa (Canada) and a Ph.D in Educational Psychology from the University of Alberta (Canada).  He has had teaching experience at primary, secondary, college and university level in Africa and Canada. Professor Mwamwenda is currently Professor of Educational Psychology and Dean of the Faculty of Education at the University of Transkei, South Africa.  Tuntufye Mwamwenda is an acknowledged expert in the field of African children’s cognitive development and has published extensively in the field. Professor Mwamwenda believes strongly in promoting an understanding and appreciation of African culture, identity, personality and behaviour amongst prospective teachers across the continent of Africa.
