Trainees in counselling psychology spend time in counselling sessions with a client in actual life settings including institutions such as hospitals, prisons, schools and colleges, family crisis centres, adolescent crises centres, drug rehabilitation centres, police stations, and industries. This is to enable the trainee work will real clients under the supervision of trained counsellors from the department or other institutions. In addition, trainees carry out a small scale research project on a topic of their own interest under the guidance of an assigned supervisor. This is to enable develop practical and pragmatic research.
